Liam and Lily had been best friends for longer than they could remember. They learned how to walk together, they learned how to talk together they even learned how to ride bikes together. They were inseparable. But lily was always the boss, and the know it all. What ever she says goes. And that’s where this story comes in.
Lily and Liam Were Walking along the beach in front of their houses in Oceanside, California, licking their ice cream cones when they came across a bulletin that said, “BOX CAR RACE!!! Ages ten to 15! Saturday in the park 12:00 pm.”
“We should do that!” Lily said tapping Liam on the shoulder. Liam absentmindedly kicked the sand around.
&b;“I don’t know,” Liam muttered. He had always been more cautious than Lily but he knew he had to give in because eventually lily would win and he would just have to go with it.
“Come on!” Lily squealed. “It would be fun!”
“Ok fine, I will do it, but how are we going to make a boxcar? That’s one of the crazy things we haven’t done before.”
“Leave it all to me. Meet me at my house later and we will start. “
“Ok” Liam said over his shoulder walking in the direction of his house.
Later that day Liam Arrived next door at Lily’s house. He walked into the garage and found Lily lying under what looked like a can of glitter on wheels. “What’s going on?” He asked her, looking a bit startled.
“I’m just doing a little thing called decoration!” She replied enthusiastically.
“What should I do?” Liam asked.
“Nothing!” Lily practically shouted. “I have got it all under control. Plus, I want it to be perfect!”
“Ok then I will just turn on some music. “
Liam sat there and watched her all after noon. By the time he had to go home, the car had pink flames on the side and along with them the name Diva. How was she going to get it finished by Saturday? She still had to do the steering, brakes, and find a seat that would fit both 11 year olds. Did she even know how to do anything other than decorate?
&b;&b;ampb&b;&b;&b;The next morning, Lily wasn’t in the garage working on the car. Instead, she was on a towel down on the beach lying out in the sun. “Why aren’t you working on the car? “Asked Liam
&b;&b;&b;&b;&b;&b“Oh there is plenty of time for that! Why waste a perfectly good day in the sun?”
“It’s Thursday! Liam said the race is on Saturday! “
“Trust me! Lily murmured with her eyes closed. We will have plenty of time! Stop worrying so much! Everything will be fine!”
So Lily and Liam played in the sun the rest of the day, and on Friday, Lily would work all day and finish. And sure enough, she did! On Saturday morning, Liam came over and Lily told him it was done.
“Can I see it?” Liam asked.
“No! It’s a surprise!” Lily said. “Let’s go get an ice cream and then take the car to the race “
Later when they arrived at the park, there were all sorts of cars; ones for two people, one person, black, white, red, blue, and of course, their pink one. Liam didn’t have a chance to look at it until they arrived at the track. It was covered in tons of sparkles, had pink flames, a cheetah print steering wheel and cheetah seats, along with a blue, and a pink helmet. “Finally, something is NOT sparkly!” Liam added.
When they got ready to start, they looked at the course. It was about a mile of windy steep hill, and then ended in a round- about just before the pond. The kids setup their car at the starting line and prepared to race.
;&b;&b;&b;&b;&b“Okay racers on your marks! Get set! Go!”
Liam and Lily did a running start, and hopped in. They sped down the hill. Turn by turn, they were getting closer to the finish line. There were boxcars everywhere! They all wanted the same thing, and were headed for the same spot. “Wow lily! You really did a good job on the car, well, besides all the glitter.” But, Liam spoke too soon. As they were rounding the last corner, they broke into the lead! They zoomed past the finish line. “Woo hoo!!!” They both yelled.
“Ok, let’s stop now!” Liam shouted, but they kept speeding closer, and closer to the pond. “You did put brakes on this thing didn’t you lily?” Liam yelled before they crashed into the cold, mucky pond.

Yes! I do believe that parents have the right to censor what books their children read because they might want to protect their child from the content of the book. They might also read something that they are not ready to read, or don't know about yet. So big companies should not decide which books are good for young children because parents might disagree and have their own opinion about what their children should read.

Would you put yourself first?
People do have the right to put themselves first, but it doesn't mean that they should. For example if a family's house is in flames, the mom and dad wouldn't just run out and leave their kids in there, they would put their kids first if they were in their right mind you could put yourself first when its your birthday an you get the first piece of cake, there are many more examples of when you should put yourself first, and somebody else first like if somebody didn't have a family, and they were running from a title wave they would probably put themselves first and so on.

The Pearl
we do learn about the pearls symbolism by the reaction it evokes. The pearl symbolizes riches, greed, and jealousy. People wished that they were the ones that had the pearl, and not Kino.
The human characteristics the pearl brings out in :
Kino: The pearl brings out overjoyment, and wanting too much, because right when he finds the pearl, all he can think of is what he wants.
Juana:The pearl doesn't change Juana. instead, she feels that it is cursed when kino gets hurt.
Neighbors: The pearl has changed the neighbors to be foes instead of the friends that they used to be. they feel that they should have the pearl.
The Doctor: hates kino for finding the pearl. He thinks that kinos people are animals, and do not deserve something like the pearl. the doctor tries to cheat for some money from the pearl.
The Priest: Brings greed and jealousy. when he comes to Kino's house, Kino hears the song of evil playing.
The townspeople: Like others, are greedy, and jelous. and want the pearl for themselves.
